Acts of the Prophets #87
Posted by TsiyonAug 31
The office of Prophet is ranked second in the Renewed Covenant Scriptures, right after Apostles. Yet, few of us are aware of what the prophets did among the first century believers to be ranked so highly. This program removes the fog surrounding that question as we consider key prophets by name and review what they actually did in the earliest days of the Messianic movement. As we consider the acts of the prophets you will be amazed at the far-reaching positive consequences of the things the prophets did in the service of the Kingdom. In the process you will gain important insights into dynamics of first century Jewish society as revealed in the book of Acts and how that played into the rapid spread of the Good News. You will also lay the groundwork to better understand the role of the prophets in the final days. Talmidim of the King; be informed, uplifted and inspired by a living Book of Acts!

Blessings to all,
Interesting hour.It is interesting to really focus on the office of Prophet and their role for the will of Yahweh. As we turn more to Yahweh we start to see his big picture more and more. The writings of the Prophets are right there waiting for us to catch up and assume our part in the Big Picture. And no doubt some are easy for the spiritual infant, but some are deeper and meant for guidance as we progress on or walk. I think for a new believer they would want to be a prophet, thinking it was cool or something. In reality ,careful what you wish for. This is a tough position.Given the fact that usually Yahweh told you to slap the Elders around,or tell the Leaders something they didn’t want to hear.Next thing you know you are getting sawed in two in a log,or stoned. Bravery and ultimate faith in the face of ultimate persecution,my kind of people. We owe them so much for their service. Now the big question. Are we ready to start hearing the Prophets, and get back on the right path.
Rev 4-Then I heard another voice from heaven say:
“Come out of her, my people,
so that you will not share in her sins,
so that you will not receive any of her plagues;
5-for her sins are piled up to heaven,
and God has remembered her crimes.
Blessings to all,
Fred

After Stephen’s martydom; the talmidim spread out and the gospel message spread throughout the kingdom. Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abides alone, but if it die, it brings forth much fruit…
One perspective that I have heard is that the talmidim were congregating in Jerusalem and it took an event like this to force them to break up and to actually begin going into the areas that Yahshua had commanded…
(On a side note;Early in my faith; I remember thinking at 17, that if we as believers, were truly doing what we are suppose to, a lot more of us would be imprisoned or martyred.)
Edifying the body of the Messiah. I thing back over the past years in my walk and the blessing of having a word spoken by a prophet to the local body. Most of the time, it was a word of edification; but, sometimes it was a word of correction.

Never thought of Stephen as a Prophet of YHWH but he sure fits the definition. Especially the way he took the word of God right to the council, gave them a history lesson and accused them justly of their sin. Just like in the old days (Old Covenant).
I can not think of the name of a modern day prophet. Perhaps they are more on a local level. I’ve heard people “prophesy” in a church setting but they were not referred to as prophets but had the “gift of prophecy”. Wondering of that is the same thing but they just didn’t know it. Wouldn’t one know if they were a prophet of YHWH? that doesn’t seem to be the thing that He would keep secret from the person….kind of counter-productive. Any way I have much to learn regarding this office.
Shalom,
Don

This is the most thourough exposition of the function of a prophet that I’ve ever heard. I’ve gained a greater understading of the scriptures in Acts 6 concerning the murmuring of the Grecians concerning the daily ministration. I’ve never considered the Hellenized Hebrews in relation to this scripture nor Acts 6:9. This teaching sheds much light on the different synagouges and the cultural mindset of the Hebrews of that time. Nor have I considered the judgement and prophecy Yeshua pronounced in Matthew 23:29-36 in relation to these events in Acts and ultimately down through history. I fully agree that the body of Messiah desperately needs true prophets of Yahweh to build His body as you have expounded on in Acts 11 and 13. To see how these events worked out to further the Gospel is amazing. I also have never seen this connection before. I have gained alot of insight from this program. In fact I have not failed to glean some important truth which I’ve never heard before from any program that I’ve listened to at Tsiyon. I thank Yahweh for you and His bringing all this forth.

Wow, I am amazed at all the fruit that was brought forth as a result of Steven’s death. What a testimony this was to those people back then(the people in the Antioch-sorry if I misspelled that town) and what a testimony this is to us today of not only Steven’s testimony, but also of this body of believers, back then, of how they functioned, and how they functioned as one body in the Messiah. It is amazing to me and very sad too, how your own people, your own family members can turn against you and bring judgement upon you, condemning you(simply for following the Messiah and believing in Him. Simply living a righteous life in Him can turn your own family against you. But it isn’t simple at all. B/c you as a follower of Messiah, have to live a set apart life to serve Him. This isn’t popular among mainstream society.
Thank you for another great program.

There is a typo in my previous comment. I meant to type or add in this case.
Simply living a righteous life in Him can turn your own family against you. But it isn’t simple at all. B/c you as a follower of Messiah, have to live a set apart life to serve Him. This isn’t popular among mainstream society including your own hometown.

Acts of the prophets, prophetic words are spoken,
words of truth and life, God breathed, never broken!
Change agents, with a need for you to repent,
hear the words of God, a life given, holy spent!
The last of the prophets, was the immerser John,
Yahweh has now chosen, to speak to us by His Son!
Prophetic words, by all means, are still uttered,
spiritual groans help, when we are so shuddered!
But among the prophets, none were ever greater,
words that were spoken, by the one and only Creator!
Just as in the ancient days, the prophets were martyred,
the path that Stephen choose, was so chartered!
Stephen’s testimony of Yeshua, at God’s right hand,
and his forgiveness of his killers, spread throughout the land!
His sacrifice brought many to belief,
wonder what Yeshua has for us, as Commander in Chief!

GREETINGS TRIBESMEN!!!
We are living in the LAST generation people. We are going to get popped with the reality of being persecuted and even killed for the sake of the gospel.
Some folks believe that persecution and death was only for the Apostles, Disciples, and Prophets of old. Think again people!!! This modern day “christian” generation has an attitude of receiving health wealth and prosperity from a god who owes us everything!!
This is disgusting. If we are preaching the TRUTH to mankind, then most of the time we will be HATED!! Look at how Steven died!! He wasn’t guaranteeing anyone a new car or house or a sack load of money for following Messiah. He was cutting them phony bolony religious leaders in the heart.
I have experienced true persecution from MODERN DAY PHARISEES, and let me tell ya, they become vehement and they actually gnash their teeth with PURE HATRED!!! I am talking about PASTORS and PREACHERS of HUGE churches that got together and conspired against me to have me booted out of the prison ministry that YAHWEH called me into.
Just like Steven, I too called these Pharisees snakes, vipers and hypocrites.
Yahweh exposed them, and rather than REPENT of their ways, they chose the wrong direction and as a result of that Yahweh promoted me to having my own group of men that I could minister to.
The Holy Spirit moved so powerfully in my class that literally 95% of the guys on that floor signed up to come to bible study, which was over 300 men.
The Pharisees were totally beside themselves when they found out about my class growing leaps and bounds. But what is TRULY AMAZING is the fact that the guards were telling me that the prisoners were changing for the better. I’m tellin you folks, Yahweh was working in the lives of these wonderful men who started having a RELATIONSHIP with Yahweh.
My point is this. If I had NOT stood up and gone “THROUGH” being persecuted by the “religious phonies”, I could NOT have qualified or been found worthy to have my own class. WHY? Because in order to be hated or persecuted for the sake of the gospel it requires ONE IMPORTANT THING!!
YOU MUST OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SPEAK NO MATTER HOW UNCOMFORTABLE IT FEELS!!!
This is what its like to be a bondservant of Yahweh. When you speak the truth, you WILL at some point come under some sort of persecution. But fear not!! Yahweh is with you and He will get you through even in death. That’s right, EVEN if death is the way it must be then Yahweh will give you the strength and courage that you need at that moment to taste death. And YES I HAVE BEEN THREATENED WITH DEATH AS WELL!!!
But guess what, Yahweh provided what I needed at that time and look; IM ALIVE!!!
So Tribesmen, lets stay on the road to Tsiyon and preach this end time message that will draw men and women to the TRUTH of the Kingdom. Regardless if they like us or not. Shalom, Crigger

In “Acts of the Prophets” we are given a look at the work of some of those filling this function of the five-fold ministry. Starting with Yeshua’s condemnation of the religious leaders in Matthew 23:29-36 and His announcement that He would be sending scribes, wise men and prophets to them whom they would then persecute just as their father had persecuted the former prophets, we move on to a look at Stephan who had come from among the hellenic Jews. Of him the Scripture bears witness that he was “a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit” and that he “full of grace and power, was performing great wonders and miraculous signs among the people” - all indications that he was a prophet. Ministring the Gospel to those from among whom he had his origin, he is martyred.
This set off a wider persecution which caused many to leave Jerusalem taking the Gospel to surrounding areas but always going to the Jews only. So it was also in Antioch where many came to believe the Good News. Upon hearing of this, the council in Jerusalem first sent Barnabas and then later prophets to help build up the believers there. Later we learn that there were prophets and teachers who, after praying and fasting and being told by the Spirit to set Barnabas and Paul (whom Barnabas had fetched from Tarsus to help in Antioch) apart for the work which He had for them, layed hands on them and sent them out.
So we see here in different instances the “bubbling forth” and speaking of the word of God, first to warn the unbelievers and also to instruct and strengthen the Body.
Praise be to God for His wisdom and love.
