Evil Day Preparedness - #60
Posted by TsiyonFeb 23
After two programs about the Evil Day some of you have asked how to prepare - and even whether to prepare. The list of conditions Messiah foretold for this generation in Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke 21 sounds quite daunting: wars, famines, plagues, earthquakes, natural disasters, social unrest, terror, big signs in the sky, hatred, persecution, betrayal, false prophets, increasing iniquity, love of many growing cold. How can we possibly prepare for all of that? And isn’t God going to just protect us no matter what we do? Don’t count on that one friends. Bad things DO happen to good people sometimes, which is why we need to follow the Word to be wise. In this program we focus on the recommended Scriptural response to all of these end time troubles that are sure to get increasingly more intense as we continue to move rapidly onward toward the climax of this age. You CAN be ready for the evil day! This program will tell you how!

Ben David,
Off topic a bit, but I would wonder what Bible Version you prefer or recommend? Is it the “Complete Jewish Bible,” the “Orthodox Jewish Bible,” the “Scriptures” (out of the Institute for Scripture Research), or some other?
As a sidelight, I wonder if you wouldn’t mind taking a look at my Context Group Version at http://www.wanderingheretic.com/CGVersion/html/index.html. I don’t transliterate Hewbrew words (as I really don’t think that fulfills the role of “translator”) but I do try to get across first century Hebrew concepts where available.

Caine,
In my personal study I mostly use a variety of Bibles and resources in Esword. Bibles include all the ones you mention as well as HNV, NAS, Amplified, various permutations of the JKV, LXX and interlinears. I have not found a single Bible that does it for me. I have to deconstruct a verse, phrase or word at a time for myself, in dependence upon the Spirit, to be sure I’m getting the true picture. Since you are a Bible translator you already understand what many Bible readers do not. Namely, that the translator does not just do a word for word translation from the Hebrew or Greek into the English since that is not really possible. There is an interpretive element in translation that is necessarily influenced by the scope of the theological understanding of the translator and other factors. Nothing against Bible translators in that statement, simply acknowledging the fact that human error and limitation often creeps into translations of the Scriptures, as in everything that humans do. I took a brief look at your translation, not enough to make a sweeping assessment. However, I did like that you put words added for clarification in brackets. That shows a respect for the original inspired text which is a real confidence builder.

Proverb 6 brings so many observations to mind. A couple of summers ago while I was cutting back the coneflowers, I was bitten on my hand by an ant. I had a reaction that made hives over every square inch of my body even inside my ears. I’ll spare the details but need to express stating that it was horrible would be an understatement. It gave my husband such a scare he called a pest control service to treat whole perimeter of the house for ants every month. Before the service we usually just had one ant mound in the front garden and one in the back garden. Now around 5 mounds have popped up in the back and 4 or five in the front. How crazy is that? You try to kill them off, and they just scatter and set up residence somewhere else, leaving everything they worked for behind. I sure don’t want to be like the gazelle, and I sure never thought I’d be seeking the lifestyle of the ant. Thinking even more deeply on this aspect, the context of the verse in Proverbs 6 follows:
1My son, if you have become surety for your neighbor,
Have given a pledge for a stranger,
2If you have been snared with the words of your mouth,
Have been caught with the words of your mouth,
3Do this then, my son, and deliver yourself;
Since you have come into the hand of your neighbor,
Go, humble yourself, and importune your neighbor.
4Give no sleep to your eyes,
Nor slumber to your eyelids;
5Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter’s hand
And like a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
7Which, having no chief,
Officer or ruler,
8Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.
9How long will you lie down, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
10″A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest”–
11Your POVERTY WILL COME in like a vagabond
And your need like an ARMED MAN.
Because Yahweh loves us, He is giving us clear warnings in His Word. It’s so clear that if we don’t start to make serious changes, we will be in poverty and become an armed man. The signs are all around us confirming this to be so true. Guns and bullets are in high demand, with ever increasing sales. WorldNetDaily is selling an acre worth of non genetically altered seeds, DVDs and instruction manuals on stocking your own food supply, instruction manuals for guidelines on surviving the collapse of this nation – these warnings are coming from another source outside of scripture, and so confirms the truth of things to come. But the ant can’t survive on it’s own, only in unison with the colony.
Blessings in Messiah,
Kim

Greetings to all,
First and foremost ….”The more you rely on the world the more you depend on it.”We need to return to God.I pray for this everyday as I go foreward in my life.In our house we have gone simple on many things.Both with eating real food and turning off real TV.We have began our exodus out of Egypt or Babylon if you will,and as a house are returning to what is important.I pray for all those out there that are coming back to God.We need to stand proud with each other and proclaim the Kingdom.
Fred
