Messiah’s Forerunner #08
Posted by TsiyonFeb 25
Finishing our look at Messiah’s Family Album we direct our gaze at Yeshua’s cousin, Yochanan the Immerser, otherwise known as John the Baptist. He was a powerful prophetic figure with a vital and unique ministry. We look at who this man really was, what role he played in Yah’s plan in his day. Surprisingly for some, we also find that his ministry holds great relevance for us today.

Greetings: What a great introduction to Yohanon the Immerser as forerunner for Messiah and His message for the Remnant today. I thought your description of the message of repentance for everyone with him not showing a difference to whom he was speaking to whether it was common folk or teachers of the law. I also thought your description of the Kingdom of God/Heaven was so important. For I truly agree that HaSatan has deceived the whole world with the concept of “Heaven as our reward.” He truly has caused many to miss the mark. To me it makes so much sense that HaSatan would use that kind of deception; for if you want people to step off the path, then make them think that the reward is in a different place. The goals for reaching your destination would be totally different along with the rewards you receive of course.
On a different note, I can’t help but wonder if you believe in the early writings about how Yohanon’s father, Zacharia was killed, that perhaps he didn’t have extra motivation to show that his father’s death was not for naught if you will. That truly, Zacharia died to spare His Son because he believed in the message his son would bring. Also, I wonder is there is any mentioning of Yohanon taking his turn serving in the Temple; And would he be in that role like his Father? Food for thought, and perhaps some of these items will be addressed in the next two programs concerning the forerunner.

I agree, I think Yohanan would be scorned today as well, so how do you think the “Elijah to come will be treated”?

Shalom,
It was interesting to think about Yochanan wearing the clothing of a prophet….I ran into a verse while reading & I was wondering what you thought about it….
Zec 13:2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
Zec 13:3 And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet prophesy, then his father and his mother that begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
Zec 13:4 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the prophets shall be ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to deceive:
Zec 13:5 But he shall say, I am no prophet, I am an husbandman; for man taught me to keep cattle from my youth.
Zec 13:6 And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
I noticed that the prophet wears a “rough garment” & it mentions wounds in his hands as a sign of being a prophet….What are the wounds in his hands that scripture is talking about?

This makes me wonder, when the forerunner comes this time around (or while he’s here now), will people miss him, misunderstand him, marginalize him as in the days of Yohanon the Immerser.
I would expect that this generation would be no different than that of 2000 years ago.
It’s evident to me that our ‘New Covenant’ brothers will be guilty of marginalizing the Forerunner.
They will completely misunderstand him, and they may even go so far as to brand him as a false prophet/teacher. Mystery Babylon the Great will be in complete rebellion when the forerunner is before their face.
Mystery Babylon the Great will attempt crush our faith by attacking the Forerunner.
Have you ever meditated on a subject and sought council from YHWH concerning that subject?
And before you ask YHWH the question, he gives you the answer?
No matter what happens, when you recognize the forerunner, you must follow his instruction as he is walking in the will of Yashua. He is here to prepare the remnant for the coming of Messiah!
In part this was my answer. This is my watchman’s word to you my fellow brothers and sisters.
Shalom.

Awesome message about Yochanon the Immerser. We definetely need more pastors to emulate his teaching style. I love that his mission was his life. There was no other outside influence taking him away from his ministry. He preached the truth without any worldly sway whatsoever. He didn’t care about the nice clothes, or the big buildings like we see today. He was truly sanctified in every way. We can and should learn a lot from his example.
Shalom

This in depth picture of Yohanan the Immerser focuses on many new points which make me appreciate his ministry even more than before. You have again shown us the man behind the name. Such a straight forward message and one that needs to be heard today. His time so well parallels our time and so many seem to be totally unaware of what Yahweh is doing! Please give us the boldness to put forth this message to our beloved brothers and sisters lost in Babylon, Abba! Answering your question regarding the remnant of Yisrael, Yes! I want to be part of Messiah’s Kingdom. That has become my focus and my goal is to weed out the unnecessary activities in my life that keep me from spending the time I need to on His Kingdom business. Thank you once again for a wonderful perspective. May we be willing to accept the current forerunner and be a support to his ministry!
Blessings and Shalom, Shelia

Greetings to all my Brothers and Sisters,
This is a timly message for me.As today in my life I came to realize that following and learning the Word would put me at odds with Churches…even,My Church!!This thankfully has not happened yet but I can see that it could. This is a strange leap.I don’t want to sound behind the times or naive toward organized religion. But sometimes things really sink ion more than just saying it.To think that the Church is more into “Church” than the Word is un imaginable until Y’shua truly grabs you and you follow him.I can appreciate the life that He led more now. His,John’s, Message was valid then and it is now.We need to Wake Up! I went to church for years before, finally, I started to wake up.We need to echo his call to repentance. We don’t follow our Father very well in the USA,and well you can see the results.I feel that the spirit of this forerunner is again upon us,as I feel that led to my awakening to the truth two years ago this month.Great lesson once again…
Peace to all
Fred

Headlines today 2009:
REPENT for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! Hebraic teaching is to christianity as dew is to the spiderweb, the dew illuminates the trap! Repent and recieve the Word of Truth, walk the path-keep the Torah of God. One goal in John’s life, hear from God, his entire focus was on Messiah!

I have personally had a somewhat hard to describe anxiety for over a year now. I didn’t pray much or specifically in the beginning, and so sought the council or certain bible “scholars” in the church. I was specifically consumed with the book of Revelation and the teachings of a certain class I took portrayed all the doom and destruction would only fall on the Jewish people. This, coupled with the rapture, sent me over the edge, and I found the internet, which appears to be free speech, at least for a little while, proved that we needed to leave of the church system. The Feasts of the Lord DVDs led us to a Messianic congregation where I approached their leader and he gave very little enlightenment and held to the tenet that there must first be a physical construction of the Temple. Yet another messianic congregation leader in another state noted in reference to apocalyptic verses: “when you see these things happen, DUCK!” They did, however, teach us the “Eliyahu ha navi” song to be sung following the extinguishment of the havdalah candle at the closing of the Shabbat. They always explained these traditions are memory devices, the mezuzah, the tefillin, etc. So, you can see I was really, really taken back by the outwardly negative response after having shared some of the initial revelation CDs with one member. She was very emphatic wanting to know his history, education, resume, the whole shebang. Quite frankly, if Eliyahu was a big name preacher or had an evangelical resume a mile long, I would have passed him by, knowing those lamp stands have been removed. The truth is there are other Eliyahus out there, and the truth is that there are also a lot of people seeking guidance and comfort. All, I know for certain is our Father would not give visions to a worldly man. I know this is the first time I have been comforted and incredibly enlightened by the Truth behind the Word expressed in these radio segments, and along with the even greater comfort that there is a plan, and it’s not to duck. Blessings and Shalom, Kim

08 Yeshua’s Forerunner
Shalom! Many Blessings to Tsiyon, Eliyahu and Dawn!
Yochanan the Immerser was much more than just the prophet to make way for a straight path for Yeshua the Messiah. He was the first to start the ministry, a very important man to be mimicked! Blessed is YHVH for sending Yochanan the Immerser to make the path straight! We need to be more like Yochanan for the second coming of Yeshua!
I pray that ALL that listen to Tsiyon Heights Messianic Radio: On the Road to Tsiyon became more like Yochanan! May it be so!
We need bring forth fruit worthy of REPENTANCE in our lives!
It is so true what, Eliyahu said, “The fruit of your life tells what kind of tree you are…”
May YHVH send us what we need as we repent of our sins and make changes to our daily lives!
Facebook message for the day: Lord, YHVH make me more like Yochanan the Immerser so that I can shed worldly ways! Repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! We need to bring forth fruit worthy of REPENTANCE in our lives! What kind of tree are you? Repent and turn from your wicked ways! Foolish are those that just believe they are saved in Yeshua and not bare the fruit of righteousness!
May YHVH make me an instrument to help in the restoration of the Remnant of Israel for HIS Glory!
Still amazed and seeking to learn more about YHVH, Yeshua, and Ruach HaQodesh.
Shalom!

A call to repentence! Wow! I think I need to hear this message often, I’m sad to say. How easy it is to get caught up in the stuff of the world, the schedules, the hassles… the sin.
I appreciate, Eliyahu, that you explain what the Kingdom of Heaven is. For me this had always been a nebulous concept. I had once been in a Bible study that explored this “Kindom of Heaven”, and after two hours there still was confusion.
How absolutely exciting it is to think that we could actually be part of the adminsitation of the Kingdon of Yeshua when He comes again! I want to be ready for that when He comes. I want there to be fruit in my life. I want to hear those words from Yeshua, “Well done you good and faithful servant.”
I have noticed a theme present in my comments to the previous Tsiyon Radio programs, that is an anger toward the established Christian Church in America. I’m getting rid of that anger, giving it to Yahweh through Yeshua. I will refocus my attention on Him and His mission for my life.
Again, Eliyahu, thank you for allowing the Holy Spirit to work through you and bring conviction where it is needed. Blessings.
Shalom,
Don

Excellent teaching. Now I have a true understanding of Baptisim. It symbolizes and communicates to God our willingness to change and be cleansed fully. We need the help of another to do this. None other than The Lord Himself. I was Baptized several years ago and never really understood it only that it symbolized Christ’s death and resurrection and our dying to sin and living a new life. What I learned through this program with the custom of the mikvah and the deeper meaning of immersion is very valuable to me. John’s character and priorities are inspiring. I believe 99% of all churches in the US need a visit from an offensive man like this perhaps some will listen. Unfortunately most people don’t know or consider what the word admonish means. True love will warn without reguard to worrying that people’s feelings might be hurt. The parallel between the Pharisees and modern day “saved” Christians is striking. This whole once saved always saved doctrine is damnable in that people believe you pray a prayer, get your “ticket” and go on living like you were because it doesn’t matter what you do because your going to heaven. My bible says nothing like that. Yeshua didn’t lay down his life so we could keep on sinning. He did it to free us from it’s power. People use the excuse “we all sin everyday nobody is perfect” It seems they have no faith and deny His power. If they read thier bibles they wouldn’t hold this doctrine. Lastly I want to comment on John’s priority again. I am striving to cut off those worldly things that hinder hearing from God and hinder the relationship. I decided a month ago to restrict TV viewing to weather and a few select cooking programs to average 40 minutes a day and some days not at all.(Before it was several hours a day) When that noise box is off it is very peaceful. I used to examine shows in order to critique them. This is not wise. I just read a quote in a book I am reading called Disney and the Bible by Perucci Ferraiuolo concerning desensitization “Vice is a monster of so frightful mein/ As to be hated needs but to be seen;/ Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,/ We first endure, then pity, then embrace [Alexander Pope] TV is accelerating rapidly into the perverse like never before. The camel is almost the whole way into the tent.I need to protect my eye gate and ear gate so I can hear from The King. This teaching as a whole enforces my effort to give my all to God.

“Yochanan’s sole purpose in life was to fulfill this role of being the forerunner of the Messiah.”
He had one aim, one focus! Most of us have lives that are so scattered. We flit from one thing to the next. Sure we love Yeshua but do we truly seek the “Kingdom of God first” as He told us to do. He also said that if we love Him we will obey His commands.Do we even know what those commands are? “Yochanan was entirely and completely enthralled with Yahweh and knowing Him is what he wanted”. Yochanan the Immerser, the person and his life should inspire us to set our priorities in order and return to our first love!

I can relate in so many ways to the people who have left comments before me. This program is a bitter-sweet reminder of the purpose and call on my life. As I listened, memories flashed in my mind regarding those quiet times with Yah and the words that I received from those He allowed to speak into my life at different times. I have glimpsed the single purposed life that Jochanan the Immerser lived. To know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering (this is the hard part).
I realize that I have strayed from the path that I was suppose to be walking. I have allowed the cares and comforts of this world to draw me from the path He revealed to me so many years ago.
I know that I can not change what has been. I can only do my best to change the course of what is and will be. May Yah grant me, and all those He has called, the true repentance that leads to the acknowledgment of the truth.

There is so much more to the story of Yochanan the Immerser than I could have ever imagined! It amazes me how Eliyahu can take passages I have heard taught on so many times and then open them up afresh! I have learnt more about my Bible in the last six months than I had in the years before that. Thank you for the clear description of the Kingdom of God/heaven, I have heard that they are two very separate things in the past and this utterly confused me. You managed to explain this briefly and succinctly; truly a gift of the Spirit.
May we all repent and pray ourselves to be worthy of entering the Kingdom, I certainly don’t want to be weeping and gnashing my teeth in the outer darkness, that’s for sure. Praise YHWH for “opening the eyes of my heart” to the truth and giving me a heart to receive it, may He continue to do this for all His chosen remnant.

What a great introduction to Yochanan the Immerser. This session really helped to clarify so many things, but the biggest thing it cleared up for me was the confusion I have always felt about the meaning of the Kingdom of Heaven/Kingdom of God. I now understand! Thank you.
The other thing that I must remark upon was the way Yochanan spoke to the pharisess and sadducees and the similarity between their complacency and that of many people today. I used to be that way. I pray I can stay on the straight path now and live my life for one single purpose, just as Yochanan did.
The axe is surely lying at the root of the trees. The time to make a choice is now, there is no time to delay!

Thank you E for bringing Yochanon to life for me. There were so many things that I found interesting.
* The prophets didnt put a priority on wordly matters, they kept their focus on the soul purpose that they were called into.
* They favored the wilderness, needed to get away from everything so that they could hear thier Lord. (I know I need to do that from time to time.)
*Todays ministers and pastors dont wanna upset the congregation as they may lose some members. They teach a positive message because thats what they feel the people need. They need encouragement right? WRONG….”we” need to hear truth……..”we” need to repent! Thats what Yochanon knew. ( I feel like I need to be immersed again! I didnt die to myself or the world when I was baptized. This is one message I need to listen to often!.)
*Repentance is related to Righteousness. We have to repent and get back on the path toward Right living. Repentance gets filtered out of the church today.
* the lack of difference in the pharisees and the christians today who think that they are saved.
*True Immersion-giving your whole self to God.
*The kingdom is coming! Right here on Earth, in Israel under the rule of Messiah..He is king and where the king is, the kingdom is!
(I would like to be a part of the kingdom!.)
Praise Yahweh for His Son, His Spirit, every word, covenants and every part of His plan. Praise Yahweh that He sent Yochanon to prepare the way for Messiah. May we His people, repent, and get back on the path of righteousness according to His standards, not ours. His message is still so worthy for us today.
Comment by 2Miriam on November 27, 2011 at 9:19 pm
Yochanan’s mission was to bring the people back by repentance and tesuvah(turn back to Yahweh’s commandments) with this prophet’s immersion in preparation for Yeshua’s Kingdom message.
Repentance is of the heart and it always bears fruit in your life if it was sincere.
We need to keep the Torah of God and submit our lives to Yahweh to be a part of the Kingdom. Yochanan’s message is still relevent today for us just as it was in his day.

Ahhh, the wilderness. Tho I live a comfortable lifestyle, my favorite times have always been on long walks with my Father. No phone, no GPS, no map, no nothing from the world. What peace John must have had. I have never heard of the marketing practices of the churches, but since most of them are businesses, it fits with the ‘Babylon’ system we live in. How our Father’s heart must break for the wickedness done in His name.
Thank you for explaining how real love is speaking Truth. Tho it’s not popular to speak of the coming judgment which is upon us today, it really is love. I would much rather be told I’m all messed up and headed to doom IF I don’t change right now, than be told my dress is pretty and Jesus loves me. Blah, blah, blah… Pansy loving sweet talking christians make me sick and always have. Thank you Father for cutting me from a different cloth, even if it’s camel hair. Different is good, especially if we are going against the systems of this world and right on track with YHVH.
I’ve heard so many teachings on baptism that I quit believing all of them. Finally, with this teaching I am grasping what baptism is for. I have long known about the fruit and often tell others to look for good fruit in those who claim to speak Truth, God is not mocked. I have often come across do gooders in speech, but in a short conversation if one is listening, you’ll see rotten or dead fruit, from such turn away. Yes, division is coming and coming quickly, which path are you on?

Hello all,
Good program. So very true about repentance. Without it you won’t make it and Yahweh knows when your being legit. There’s no fooling him. That’s one of the problems with the church nowadays there’s no one to check people to see if people are sincere. With churches now its say a prayer get baptized and you’re in. Well when I was 5 years old I said the prayer in Sunday school the teacher was happy. The next week I did it again but did the teacher question it no she did not. There’s no one to set the standards anymore. You’re so right Eliyahu we need to listen to johns message. We need to search ourselves and make sure were being genuine and truly repent and turn our hearts towards him. Also I know for a fact that John wouldn’t be allowed in any churches in the USA. I know of a man who stood up in church and proudly stated how he kicked a homeless guy off a bus. Its disgusting, and this guy sits in church every Sunday. So no they would’ve kicked John to the curb. With that I’m done and on to part 2. Have a nice day

This lesson takes a close look are John the Baptist/Yochanon the Immerser, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, “make straight the path of the Lord”. He was the Elijah who was to come in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. He preached repentance and baptism for the remission of sins. He preached that the ax was already laid at the root of the tree and that trees not bringing forth fruit corresponding to repentance would be cut down and burned. A judgement was coming, and everyone had to decide to which way he/she belonged - either the narrow way leading to life in following Yeshua or the broad way leading to destruction by the Romans.
This message of repentance is of no less validity today for us. We are living in the last generation and we, too, must decide to which way we belong. Which will it be? The broad way to death or the narrow way to life?
O Lord my God, do your work in me and my family that we choose the way of life in following You without holding anything back. O Lord my God, do your work in your people that the way of life in following You without holding anything back will be chosen.
Praise be to God for His mercies!
