This lesson takes a close look are John the Baptist/Yochanon the Immerser, the voice of one crying in the wilderness, "make straight the path of the Lord". He was the Elijah who was to come in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. He preached repentance and baptism for the remission of sins. He preached that the ax was already laid at the root of the tree and that trees not bringing forth fruit corresponding to repentance would be cut down and burned. A judgement was coming, and everyone had to decide to which way he/she belonged - either the narrow way leading to life in following Yeshua or the broad way leading to destruction by the Romans.

This message of repentance is of no less validity today for us. We are living in the last generation and we, too, must decide to which way we belong. Which will it be? The broad way to death or the narrow way to life?

O Lord my God, do your work in me and my family that we choose the way of life in following You without holding anything back. O Lord my God, do your work in your people that the way of life in following You without holding anything back will be chosen.

Praise be to God for His mercies!

Hello all,
Good program. So very true about repentance. Without it you won't make it and Yahweh knows when your being legit. There's no fooling him. That's one of the problems with the church nowadays there's no one to check people to see if people are sincere. With churches now its say a prayer get baptized and you're in. Well when I was 5 years old I said the prayer in Sunday school the teacher was happy. The next week I did it again but did the teacher question it no she did not. There's no one to set the standards anymore. You're so right Eliyahu we need to listen to johns message. We need to search ourselves and make sure were being genuine and truly repent and turn our hearts towards him. Also I know for a fact that John wouldn't be allowed in any churches in the USA. I know of a man who stood up in church and proudly stated how he kicked a homeless guy off a bus. Its disgusting, and this guy sits in church every Sunday. So no they would've kicked John to the curb. With that I'm done and on to part 2. Have a nice day :)

Ahhh, the wilderness. Tho I live a comfortable lifestyle, my favorite times have always been on long walks with my Father. No phone, no GPS, no map, no nothing from the world. What peace John must have had. I have never heard of the marketing practices of the churches, but since most of them are businesses, it fits with the 'Babylon' system we live in. How our Father's heart must break for the wickedness done in His name.
Thank you for explaining how real love is speaking Truth. Tho it's not popular to speak of the coming judgment which is upon us today, it really is love. I would much rather be told I'm all messed up and headed to doom IF I don't change right now, than be told my dress is pretty and Jesus loves me. Blah, blah, blah... Pansy loving sweet talking christians make me sick and always have. Thank you Father for cutting me from a different cloth, even if it's camel hair. Different is good, especially if we are going against the systems of this world and right on track with YHVH.
I've heard so many teachings on baptism that I quit believing all of them. Finally, with this teaching I am grasping what baptism is for. I have long known about the fruit and often tell others to look for good fruit in those who claim to speak Truth, God is not mocked. I have often come across do gooders in speech, but in a short conversation if one is listening, you'll see rotten or dead fruit, from such turn away. Yes, division is coming and coming quickly, which path are you on?

Yochanan's mission was to bring the people back by repentance and tesuvah(turn back to Yahweh's commandments) with this prophet's immersion in preparation for Yeshua's Kingdom message.
Repentance is of the heart and it always bears fruit in your life if it was sincere.
We need to keep the Torah of God and submit our lives to Yahweh to be a part of the Kingdom. Yochanan's message is still relevent today for us just as it was in his day.

Thank you E for bringing Yochanon to life for me. There were so many things that I found interesting.
* The prophets didnt put a priority on wordly matters, they kept their focus on the soul purpose that they were called into.
* They favored the wilderness, needed to get away from everything so that they could hear thier Lord. (I know I need to do that from time to time.)
*Todays ministers and pastors dont wanna upset the congregation as they may lose some members. They teach a positive message because thats what they feel the people need. They need encouragement right? WRONG...."we" need to hear truth........"we" need to repent! Thats what Yochanon knew. ( I feel like I need to be immersed again! I didnt die to myself or the world when I was baptized. This is one message I need to listen to often!.)
*Repentance is related to Righteousness. We have to repent and get back on the path toward Right living. Repentance gets filtered out of the church today.
* the lack of difference in the pharisees and the christians today who think that they are saved.
*True Immersion-giving your whole self to God.
*The kingdom is coming! Right here on Earth, in Israel under the rule of Messiah..He is king and where the king is, the kingdom is!
(I would like to be a part of the kingdom!.)

Praise Yahweh for His Son, His Spirit, every word, covenants and every part of His plan. Praise Yahweh that He sent Yochanon to prepare the way for Messiah. May we His people, repent, and get back on the path of righteousness according to His standards, not ours. His message is still so worthy for us today.

What a great introduction to Yochanan the Immerser. This session really helped to clarify so many things, but the biggest thing it cleared up for me was the confusion I have always felt about the meaning of the Kingdom of Heaven/Kingdom of God. I now understand! Thank you.

The other thing that I must remark upon was the way Yochanan spoke to the pharisess and sadducees and the similarity between their complacency and that of many people today. I used to be that way. I pray I can stay on the straight path now and live my life for one single purpose, just as Yochanan did.

The axe is surely lying at the root of the trees. The time to make a choice is now, there is no time to delay!

There is so much more to the story of Yochanan the Immerser than I could have ever imagined! It amazes me how Eliyahu can take passages I have heard taught on so many times and then open them up afresh! I have learnt more about my Bible in the last six months than I had in the years before that. Thank you for the clear description of the Kingdom of God/heaven, I have heard that they are two very separate things in the past and this utterly confused me. You managed to explain this briefly and succinctly; truly a gift of the Spirit.

May we all repent and pray ourselves to be worthy of entering the Kingdom, I certainly don't want to be weeping and gnashing my teeth in the outer darkness, that's for sure. Praise YHWH for "opening the eyes of my heart" to the truth and giving me a heart to receive it, may He continue to do this for all His chosen remnant.

I can relate in so many ways to the people who have left comments before me. This program is a bitter-sweet reminder of the purpose and call on my life. As I listened, memories flashed in my mind regarding those quiet times with Yah and the words that I received from those He allowed to speak into my life at different times. I have glimpsed the single purposed life that Jochanan the Immerser lived. To know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering (this is the hard part).

I realize that I have strayed from the path that I was suppose to be walking. I have allowed the cares and comforts of this world to draw me from the path He revealed to me so many years ago.

I know that I can not change what has been. I can only do my best to change the course of what is and will be. May Yah grant me, and all those He has called, the true repentance that leads to the acknowledgment of the truth.

"Yochanan's sole purpose in life was to fulfill this role of being the forerunner of the Messiah."
He had one aim, one focus! Most of us have lives that are so scattered. We flit from one thing to the next. Sure we love Yeshua but do we truly seek the "Kingdom of God first" as He told us to do. He also said that if we love Him we will obey His commands.Do we even know what those commands are? “Yochanan was entirely and completely enthralled with Yahweh and knowing Him is what he wanted”. Yochanan the Immerser, the person and his life should inspire us to set our priorities in order and return to our first love!

Excellent teaching. Now I have a true understanding of Baptisim. It symbolizes and communicates to God our willingness to change and be cleansed fully. We need the help of another to do this. None other than The Lord Himself. I was Baptized several years ago and never really understood it only that it symbolized Christ's death and resurrection and our dying to sin and living a new life. What I learned through this program with the custom of the mikvah and the deeper meaning of immersion is very valuable to me. John's character and priorities are inspiring. I believe 99% of all churches in the US need a visit from an offensive man like this perhaps some will listen. Unfortunately most people don't know or consider what the word admonish means. True love will warn without reguard to worrying that people's feelings might be hurt. The parallel between the Pharisees and modern day "saved" Christians is striking. This whole once saved always saved doctrine is damnable in that people believe you pray a prayer, get your "ticket" and go on living like you were because it doesn't matter what you do because your going to heaven. My bible says nothing like that. Yeshua didn't lay down his life so we could keep on sinning. He did it to free us from it's power. People use the excuse "we all sin everyday nobody is perfect" It seems they have no faith and deny His power. If they read thier bibles they wouldn't hold this doctrine. Lastly I want to comment on John's priority again. I am striving to cut off those worldly things that hinder hearing from God and hinder the relationship. I decided a month ago to restrict TV viewing to weather and a few select cooking programs to average 40 minutes a day and some days not at all.(Before it was several hours a day) When that noise box is off it is very peaceful. I used to examine shows in order to critique them. This is not wise. I just read a quote in a book I am reading called Disney and the Bible by Perucci Ferraiuolo concerning desensitization "Vice is a monster of so frightful mein/ As to be hated needs but to be seen;/ Yet seen too oft, familiar with her face,/ We first endure, then pity, then embrace [Alexander Pope] TV is accelerating rapidly into the perverse like never before. The camel is almost the whole way into the tent.I need to protect my eye gate and ear gate so I can hear from The King. This teaching as a whole enforces my effort to give my all to God.
